Emergency Court Procedures
Emergency - Tornado Plan
Emergency - Tornado Plan
Sec. #6-008
Upon receipt of notification of approaching threatening weather, Court Security will notify all Courthouse personnel and visitors via the Public Address System of the approaching weather conditions.
The following emergency announcement will be made:
"Threatening weather conditions have been sighted in the area. Please move to your designated Tornado Safe Spot and remain there until further notice."
Due to the nature of a Tornado, personnel should not exit the building, but seek immediate shelter in areas that have been designated as
Tornado
Safe Spots.
Action To Take:
Courthouse employees will leave their work areas and proceed to their designated
Tornado Safe Spot
, closing all doors behind them as they exit the area.
Direct members of the general public to accompany you to the
Tornado Safe Spot
area.
Employees who do not know where their safe areas are, should go to the center core of the building, rear stairwell, restroom, enclosed room, etc., where there are no glass windows.
Employees caught on an exterior wall of the building should seek protection by getting under a desk, or lay flat on the floor, face down, as close to a wall furthest away from any windows as possible.
Note: Once the threatening weather has passed, the
All Clear
will be announced by Court Security via the Public Address System.
